Rooted firmly in the soul music genre, Idols West Africa season one winner Timi Dakolo has not exactly achieved mainstream success. Nonetheless, the crooner’s reputation has never been better as he stands head and shoulders above the seemingly endless number of talentless ‘musickshians’ who have infested the Nigerian music scene, looking to make a quick naira or two from their pervasive Auto-Tune creations.
‘Love Song’ is the accompanying music video of the similarly titled Cobhams Asuquo-produced single from Mr. Dakolo’s 2011 debut album, ‘Beautiful Noise’. Directed by veteran cinematographer Clarence Peters, the black and white short is remarkably brilliant in its simplicity and elegance, conveying the ballad’s depth of meaning in an artfully abstract way.
