Self-styled South-South champion Timaya sets the stage for the June 25 release of his fourth studio album, ‘Upgrade’, with two previously unheard singles from the cut – ‘Illuminati’ and the featured Afrobeats smasher, ‘Malonogede’.
A collaborative effort with the eccentric (and very prolific) Terry G, ‘Malonogede’ is a high octane party-starter that could almost pass for a vocal freestyle as the Yung D-produced track ’borrows’ from multiple sources (including a well-known Christian worship song). Although it lacks head, tail and lyrical direction, the near-mashup is harmonious and surprisingly delightful. Spread it like a virus.
