As the genre-defining viral Ghanaian dance called azonto pervades the global music scene even further, African deejays the world over have taken to releasing compilations of songs that incite a frenzy in clubs.
Ghana’s DJ Mic Smith joins the growing list of such mixologists with the release of his 41-track ‘Azonto Explosion’ mix which features a large collection of staple Ghanaian songs and, rather unexpectedly, several hits from a number of top Nigerian acts (including D’banj, P-Square, Wizkid and Davido) reworked to match the conventional azonto tempo and rhythm.
