Meet Sturvs’ Arlinda Garrett
Arlinda Garrett is our resident A&R and Director of Music here on Sturvs Music. She’s known as the “Queen of Radio Promotions” and is a veteran in the American music industry as she has experience dating back to the 1980s working for several major record labels such as Koch/E1 Records, Virgin Records, Epic Records, Priority Records and imprint labels such as SoSo Def, No Limit, West Side Connection, Bad Boy & Roc-A-Fella. She is a member of the highly sought-after Grammy Committee and has worked with artists like Jay-Z, Diddy, 50 Cent, Janet Jackson, Jermaine Dupri, Jim Jones, Faith Evans, Snoop Dogg, Master P, Donnell Jones, Ice Cube, Cece Winans, Brian McKnight and so many more. She is a mother to several artists in the Atlanta music scene and has played an influential role in many recently upcoming artist’s careers like the Shop Boys, Dem Franchize Boys, Purple Ribbon All Stars, YC (Racks), Gorilla Zoe to name a few.
She met Sturvs’ CEO, Temi Kolawole aka Sturvsman a few years ago while working on her TV show in Atlanta who kept sending and bombarding her with Nigerian music until she eventually (after a few trips to Africa) bought into his idea which is now Sturvs Music. She will be rating all content on the site and offer consulting services for artists who want to take a shot at the American industry.
Arlinda runs her own promotions outfit Coming Attractions Promotions which is Sturvs Music’s official US promotional partner and is currently looking to help promote African artists in the United States and help them break into mainstream America via radio promotion, magazines, TV, collaborations and possible record deal signings.
